You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read. Charlie Jones
People and books. This has been a wonderful year for both. Perhaps because the former has greatly influenced the latter. Russell and I have pushed each other intellectually. We’ve both read things outside of the natural grooves of our intellects and comfort. I’m very thankful for that. I’m also thankful for those of you who read and learn with us here. I want to have an opinion, but be open to reason. I want to learn more and more in this short life. And I want to be rich with relationships of the type where you can disagree and not be afraid that someone will storm off. I don’t think I’ll add to the side-bar booklist before the new year rings in. There were 35 of varying lengths this year – – from a silly quote book found at a bread & breakfast to one of the world’s longest (and best) novels. The current car book and home book will be the first two in the 2015 entry. Russell should be back next week and we’ll bring some balance back to the force. Be safe tonight as you celebrate the coming of another year. Join me in rejoicing – – ideas and people. Please share this space with friends who would be welcomed in our dialogue.
